Based on William Forsythe's Improvisation technologies, Noé Soulier formulates an exercise in interpreting gestures through other gestures: the movement of language and the word of the body interact and transform each other in a lecture that dances as much as it thinks.

Based on William Forsythe's Improvisation technologies, Noé Soulier formulates an exercise in interpreting gestures through other gestures: the movement of language and the word of the body interact and transform each other in a lecture that dances as much as it thinks. William Forsythe's Improvisation technologies is an unclassifiable choreographic object: a series of pedagogical demonstrations in which Forsythe draws shapes with different parts of his body - giving rise to lines, circles, points.

In Mouvement sur Mouvement, Noé Soulier has chosen to take this video as a research medium, and to divert it from its demonstrative purpose by applying different filters. Can movements describe other movements? Replaying these images in the manner of a score, Noé Soulier seeks to analyse the relationship between the physicality of language and the discourse of the body, while paying attention to the precariousness of signs. By changing the focus, he replaces Forsythe's didactic speech with a discourse that is in turn descriptive, introspective, theoretical or fictional. Using the gaps created by this substitution, he examines the hollows and flaws - making the slightest gesture an indication of a gap between intention and result.

Noé Soulier's work explores the body and movement through multiple techniques. He develops choreographic writing at the intersection between practical gesture and danced movement.

His theoretical research proposes different conceptions of movement aiming to multiply the experience of the body. He also experiments with the place of choreography in different contexts: museums, architectural places and natural spaces. In this way he develops an approach that is both conceptual and deeply rooted in movement. Noé Soulier studied at P.A.R.T.S. (Brussels) and obtained a master's degree in philosophy at the Sorbonne University. His creations have been presented by, among others, the Festival d'Automne in Paris, the Centre Pompidou, the Théâtre de la Ville, the Théâtre National de Chaillot, Performa, Kaaitheater Brussels, Sadler's Wells (London), Tanz im August (Berlin), Tanzquartier Vienna and the Teatro Municipal do Porto. At the same time, he created for the Ballet du Rhin, the Ballet de Lorraine, the Los Angeles Dance Project and the Opéra de Lyon. In 2020, he becomes director of the Centre national de danse contemporaine in Angers.
