One of Echard’s starting points for this installation is Austrian psychoanalyst Wilhelm Reich’s work and what we named "the orgon".
In the 1930s, Reich – a disciple of Freud’s – imagined a mechanism to store and direct human energies through combinations of resin, metals and crystals. With I Still Dream of Orgonon Mimosa Echard tested and produced her own orgonites. Unleashed in her experimentations, she methodically poured resin over various unexpected elements, favouring a direct relationship with matter and the surprise bought by accidents in the process. Mimosa Echard pushed even further her idiosyncratic interest in experimentation, as represented by two “bubble chairs”, whose organic compositions recall those of the 16th century Huguenot potter, Bernard Palissy.
