While Jordan Strafer works with various media, she is best known for her disturbing videos and narrative films, which are steeped in dark humour. Her practice revolves around personal and family stories while indirectly addressing issues of racial identity, gender, sexuality, social class, and “Americanism”. Situations, which often tend towards the absurd, divert attention from the plot to the viewer’s perception—a distanced staging which allows for a critical stance towards Western society and its moral values.
