Antonin Hako

Born in 1989. Lives and works in Bobigny, France.
Antonin Hako is a French artist and co-founder of the collective Le Wonder, which he joined in 2015.

His practice explores the possibilities of an expanded form of painting, conceived as a medium capable of occupying space, transforming itself and interacting with its surroundings. Drawing inspiration from the forms, practices and techniques found in the public realm, as well as from the worlds of set design, theatre and cinema, he borrows gestures, tools and protocols from the automotive industry, urban signage and material maintenance systems, transposing them into the field of contemporary art.

Through painting, installation and performance, Antonin Hako explores themes of movement, temporality and the conditions under which images emerge. His work has been exhibited at the Musée d’Art Contemporain de Lyon, the Frac Bretagne, the Frac Normandie, the MMCA in Seoul, La Seine Musicale and Révélations Emerige. His works feature in several public and private collections, including those of the Frac Bretagne, the Frac Normandie, the Deji Art Museum and the City of Bobigny.
