Entitled The Life of Forms, this exhibition brings together a selection of works from AlUla’s design residency programme, as well as pieces from the Lafayette Anticipations Collection (Moulin Family Endowment Fund). It fosters a dialogue between different approaches to contemporary creation.
Furniture, sculptures, installations, videos and hybrid objects come together to create an exhibition where the boundaries between art and design become blurred. Some pieces reinterpret craftsmanship and vernacular forms, others experiment with natural or recycled materials, whilst some subvert the conventions of industrial production to offer new visions.
The exhibition brings together emerging forms that transform and adapt, shaped by the gestures, contexts and environments in which they exist. More than mere objects, the works on display appear as forms in motion, made to be touched, used and experienced.
Conceived as a space for encounter, The Life of Forms is complemented by a programme of talks and performances, inviting audiences to reflect on this experience beyond the exhibition itself.
In keeping with Lafayette Anticipations’ mission as a space for production, experimentation and research, this project highlights practices in which making, use and imagination are closely intertwined.
With the support of Villa Hegra.
