An exceptional evening in the company of independent publishing house Loose Joints, dedicated to contemporary photography.

Founded in 2014 in London by Lewis and Sarah Chaplin, Loose Joints develops a committed editorial line in close collaboration with emerging and established artists. Since 2019, the company has been based in Marseille, where it has opened the Ensemble bookshop, a place for distribution and meetings around photography.

This evening, the public is invited to meet six artists published by Loose Joints, who will be on hand for book signings throughout the event:

Michella Bredahl explores intimacy, emotions and body memory through portraits imbued with gentleness and vulnerability.

Thomas Rousset combines a theatrical and documentary aesthetic in stagings that are both absurd and poetic, often rooted in everyday rural life.

Felipe Romero Beltrán documents migration, border politics and bodies assigned to wait, in an approach that is both political and sensitive.

Henry Roy's work is introspective and spiritual, part autobiography, part mystical vision and part exploration of the invisible world.

Hicham Benohoud questions Moroccan social and cultural norms through images that are often performative, in which the body becomes a tool of subversion.

Luis Alberto Rodriguez creates powerful, sculptural portraits that combine dance, cultural heritage and physical identity.

Abdullahmid Kircher explores the intersections between visual culture, technology and diasporic narratives through hybrid forms combining image, object and installation.

This event is an opportunity to discover the unique worlds of these photographers and to discuss their work and publications with them.

Also not to be missed is an exceptional discussion between Lewis Chaplin, co-founder of the publishing house, and Nicolas Poillot, a creative artist and art director based between Marseille and Paris, developing a practice at the crossroads of contemporary photography, editorial design and art direction. This dialogue promises to be a rich exchange on the current challenges facing the image and the photographic book.

Since its inception, Loose Joints has established itself as a key player on the contemporary photographic publishing scene. La Librairie will be selling a selection of Loose Joints titles, which you can discover or rediscover on site!
