To mark the launch of Jeune et ambitieux (published by Tumulte), Lafayette Anticipations is hosting a one-off reading of the new novel by Mehdi Meklat and Badroudine Said Abdallah.
Performed by five actors, the text comes to life in a polyphonic reading that brings to life the voice of Zahir, the main character, as well as his inner conflicts and aspirations.
Through four defining moments in his life, set in Algiers, Marseille, Paris and Los Angeles, Zahir pursues a boundless ambition: to become somebody. In a world where money, fame and social media are reshaping power dynamics, his journey of self-discovery explores both the promises of social advancement and the sacrifices it demands.
Conceived as a collective yet musical experience, this reading brings to life the full power of Mehdi Meklat and Badroudine Said Abdallah’s writing, giving voice to the many questions that make up this novel.
