As part of prix Emmaüs Solidarité pour la création contemporaine

In 2022, the prix Emmaüs Solidarité pour la création contemporaine was awarded to Yoann Ximenes, whose poetic practice on "the voices of history" caught the interest of the jury.

Lafayette Anticipations is hosting the prix Emmaüs Solidarité pour la création contemporaine, which invites people supported by Emmaüs to elect a young artist to produce a collaborative work.

Together, the artist and the Emmaüs beneficiaries created "J'étais là... peut-être?", a sound work based on the participants' memories, expressed in their mother tongue.

About the Emmaus Solidarity Prize
Launched in partnership with the annual Jeune Création festival, the Emmaüs Solidarité prize for contemporary creation combines the fight against exclusion and civic commitment with the creative processes of the young contemporary art scene. Designed as a way of opening up to artistic practice and artists, the prize offers people supported by the association the opportunity to collectively elect a young artist with a view to producing a collaborative work.
Yoann Ximenes is a visual artist whose poetic approach is based on the observation of sound phenomena.

His research is in line with philosophical and sociological research into language, and aims to embody voices and sounds in plastic form, particularly in performance.

The artist stages what we cannot see: the political speeches that have marked the modern world, the war of words in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the first cry of the first test-tube baby, the birth of the Universe in Ancient Egypt, the singing of planets or extinct bird species. Her works combine sensory stimuli, interweaving sound and visuals that respond to each other like an echo of form. The artist's research explores the energies of sound in the creative process, questioning our apprehension of the world.
