La Librairie is hosting a joint reading by artist Rebeka Warrior and poet and novelist Laura Vazquez, two unique voices on the contemporary literary scene, whose poetic, powerful and deeply embodied worlds come together here for the first time.
In Toutes les vies (Éditions Stock, 2025), Rebeka Warrior has written a virtuoso first novel, the story of a sublime love affair, impossible grief and a spiritual quest that saves the day. Her language, by turns raw and sensitive, explores the metamorphoses of the body and the heart, the vital impulse that enables us to survive.
Opposite her, Laura Vazquez reads excerpts from Les Forces (Éditions du sous-sol, 2024), a novel of learning by doing in which the narrator travels through a fractured world, between lesbian bars, buildings inhabited by sects, abandoned houses and initiatory mountains. An intimate and political epic, Les Forces questions the possibility of living differently, of resisting the established order, of inventing a new breath of life.
Mirroring each other, their readings weave a dialogue around disobedience, desire and the power of words: a moment suspended between poetry and an act of resistance.
Active on the music scene for more than fifteen years, she is known for her projects within three duos: Mansfield.TYA (with Carla Pallone), Sexy Sushi (with College) and KOMPROMAT (with Vitalic).
A singer and multi-instrumentalist, she also develops solo work, as a DJ, producer and performer, performing in France and internationally. His pseudonym can take different forms, including Rbk Warrior, Fräulein Warrior, Reby Warrior or Reby Combat.
Her books were published by Sous-sol, Cheyne éditeur, Points, and various independent poetry publishers. She was awarded with the Prix Goncourt for poetry in 2023 for her body of work. From 2022 to 2023 she was a resident at the Villa Médicis in France. Her poems were translated into Chinese, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Norwegian, Dutch, German, Italian, Romanian, Greek and Arabic. She regularly gives public readings of her work around the world. At the same time, she runs writing masterclasses and free online writing workshops open to everyone.
