Artist of the Collection

Valentin Noujaïm

Born in 1991 at Angers, France

June Crespo belongs to the contemporary Basque art movement. She draws on references to art history, anthropology, the feminine, and the world of dreams. Her works harmoniously combine diverse elements to play on visual dissonance and opposites. The sculptor attaches great importance to raw material and its aesthetic challenges. Working on the organic and the technical, her work is both living and inanimate, where matter converses with the body through suggestive anthropomorphic forms. Her work with animated materiality enables her to highlight long-unseen contemporary social and political issues, such as feminism and ecology.

Born in 1982 in Pamplona (Spain), June Crespo graduated in Fine Arts from the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU.
