Maguy Marin

Maguy Marin is a dancer and choreographer of contemporary dance who comes from Toulouse (France). Her considerable career made her create no less than forty pieces and get eight honorary awards. Her repertoire mixes classical dance, modern ballet and non-dance.
After having studied classical dancing in Toulouse, Maguy Marin entered ballet in Strasbourg. Her experience at the Mudra School (Brussels) changed her choreographic conceptions. She is also inspired by the work of Pina Bausch in Germany, at the crossroads of theater and dance. Her famous pieces May B (1981) and Cinderella (1985) are among the most representative works of the Nouvelle Danse française, a current that appeared in the 1970s.
