Alice Martins

As an architect and dancer by education, Alice Martins creates hybrid forms that all have in common a questioning of the body in relation to its context and to others.

In addition to objects, installations and body movements, Alice Martins attempts to create moments meant to be shared. Trying to keep traces of these fleeting moments, she is developing her research on how these events are engraved in our memories and on the documentation that could bring them back to life.

As a multidisciplinary artist who fosters collaborations, she established the Objet Global structure in 2017: a platform for research and experimentation around the body, space, and languages. Among other projects, she develops the Galerie Cuissard, Passion Passion, and A au Carré - Alice & Adrien, projects engaged in exploring the question of the body within its spatial, social, and symbolic environment.

With a degree in architecture and training in dance, she composes and creates performative pieces, both on stage and in situ. Their piece Tenue has been showcased, among other venues, at the Fondation Louis Vuitton, Palais de Tokyo, and the International Design Biennial of Saint-Étienne. As part of A au Carré, a dance duo and performance with her brother Adrien Martins, she is currently co-writing Echoes’ Fantasy - Extended a project for which they are in residence and supported by the National Dance Center in Pantin in 2022-2023.

Committed to transmission, she regularly designs and shares her research and creation protocols in museums (Fondation Louis Vuitton, Centre Pompidou), theaters, or art schools (École supérieure d’art et de design de Saint-Étienne).
