Philippe Jarrigeon

A photographer with a unique and offbeat perspective, Philippe Jarrigeon has been developing a body of work at the crossroads of fashion, art and popular culture for nearly twenty years. Through images with precise yet unexpected compositions, he challenges conventions and representations.

Philippe Jarrigeon graduated with a degree in photography from ECAL (École Cantonale d’Art de Lausanne) in 2006, a prestigious Swiss art school where he has been teaching since 2008.

In 2008, he exhibited at the Hyères International Festival of Fashion and Photography (France) and at the Fotomuseum in Winterthur (Switzerland), and in 2014, he presented the ‘Grand Magasin’ project – a photographic exhibition celebrating the 25th ANDAM Prize – at the Galerie des Galeries (Galeries Lafayette Haussmann).

He regularly contributes to numerous international magazines, including Double, Dazed, M (the magazine of Le Monde), The New York Times, Interview, Vogue and W Magazine. He also works for fashion and luxury houses such as Cartier, Chanel, Hermès, Proenza Schouler and Tiffany & Co. He has also worked with artists such as Rebeka Warrior and Snoop Dogg – for whom he designed the cover of the album Bush in 2015 – Philippe Katerine for his album Zouzou in 2024, and Juliette Armanet, for whom he directed her first music video, L’Amour en Solitaire, in 2018.

Between 2009 and 2015, he published his own magazine with Sylvain Menétrey: Dorade, a magazine of fashion, photography and critical essays, which quickly became an avant-garde platform, featuring contributions from artists such as Camille Vivier, Théo Mercier and Brice Dellsperger. In 2012, Dorade won the prestigious Swiss Design Award and the prize for best cultural magazine awarded by the Club des Directeurs Artistiques.

In 2021, Philippe Jarrigeon published his first book, PLAY, celebrating 15 years in the profession, with RVB Books. Following its release, PLAY was exhibited simultaneously at the Belfast Photo Festival and the Athens PhotoFestival, and was shortlisted for the Aperture PARIS Photo Book Prize in 2022 in the debut book category.

In 2026, Philippe Jarrigeon exhibited an excerpt from his new book, Rocher Fatal, for the first time at Paris Photo, and won the Maison Ruinart Prize for photography.
