Architecture and the Humanities: Appropriation and Subversion
Wednesday 18 Nov 2026 from 6:30pm to 8pm
Free on booking
Through appropriation, subversion and interdisciplinary exchange, architects, researchers and architectural historians Margaux Darrieus, Léa Mosconi, Galaad Van Daele and Stéphanie Dadour examine what these intersections produce and reveal about the ways architecture is conceived and practised today.
What do the humanities bring to architecture today? How do they transform its methods, tools and processes, as well as the subjects architects engage with?
This discussion explores the exchanges between architecture and the humanities through three forms of engagement with gender studies, environmental history and the thought of Bruno Latour.
Lecturers and researchers Margaux Darrieus and Léa Mosconi respectively explore the discourses that shape contemporary architectural practices and the place of living things in architecture. Architect and editor Galaad Van Daele examines the boundaries between nature and culture, while architectural historian Stéphanie Dadour studies power relations in the practices of design and spatial planning.
Together, they bring their perspectives into dialogue to explore the exchanges between disciplines and their effects on architectural thinking.
Margaux Darrieus and Léa Mosconi recently co-edited Les controverses Bruno Latour, enquête dans les mondes de l'architecture, published by Éditions 205 in 2026.
